Update

RedRover Upgrades
CIT is upgrading the wireless network from Enterasys to Chantry Networks
equipment. The new access points provide additional support for wifi
compliant wireless devices including the higher bandwidth capability
provided by wireless Ethernet IEEE 802.11a&g specifications. As
of this writing there are approximately three-hundred-sixty access
points in sixty-five buildings that have RedRover service in some or
all of the
program space. There are approximately fifty Enterasys access points
left to upgrade. The replacement the Enterasys access points will be
complete in approximately eight weeks.
RedRover & Guest
An often requested feature for the RedRover wireless service is access
for individuals whom dont have a Network IDs. This is now possible
with the new system and, CIT will be enabling a RedRover-Guest service
soon.
RedRover & Network Registry
The rover wireless network was one of the first networks to comply
with the network registry policy. The new system while providing
the ability to offer new services has also provided new challenges
in the continuation
of integration with network registry. Network Registry will be coming
to the RedRover network with the roll-out of RedRover-Guest.
