Vince Patriarco, Director of Purchasing, Office for
Purchasing Services. High-level update (mostly regarding Dell), and
posit the question of how to decide on "standards", as it
relates to the potential for procurement savings.
CIT's Rent-A-Tech program. 10-15 minutes, including

Michael Swenson, Sr. Manager in CIT Customer Svcs
& Marketing, and Greg Christofferson will speak
on CIT's new Rent-A-Tech (RAT) [recently re-named] program to the
CCDs.
CCD Retreat review.
ITMC meeting briefing. Sunny will not be able to join
us this month, but we recognize that non-ITMC CCD members will benefit
from a briefing from peer CCDers.

* Discuss the future of Bear Access and related
technologies. Jon Atherton (CIT) put out a call for
interested parties to engage with CIT on this topic at last month's
IT Support Provider's meeting. With Jon Atherton
(CIT).
* Spam filtering (CIT). Discuss CIT's draft anti-spam
proposal. With Rick MacDonald (CIT).
* Provide CIT with feedback on some changes in the directory
search which were implemented this year. With Andrea
Beessing's (CIT) staff.
* Spyware: What can we do to help facilitate a campus-wide
solution? (Steve Schuster (CIT) and Tom Young
(CIT) couldn't attend today.)

Topic: IT Structure at Cornell
Defining the role of the CCDs within the new IT landscape at Cornell.
Clarify the ways in which we, as a group, can contribute positively
to campus IT in a dynamic environment. (Added, 9/8/04) As Sunny wrote,
"The retreat will be a great opportunity to clarify the role
of the CCD group in the context of the IT Managers' Council (and the
other workforce planning recommendations), while learning more about
ourselves as individuals and as a group."

what other institutions have implemented. It would be helpful to have

its members?

Further discussion regarding the new OIT Director of Distributed Support
(DDS) position. What would you most value the search committee evaluating
when screening candidates for this position? [Note that once the final
candidates are on campus, everyone will have an opportunity to hear

When should we have our next retreat, and in what format? The last one
was two years ago, and many found it very useful. In addition to getting
to know each other better, and retreat can help us focus on answering
questions such as: Within the context of WFP-IT and the formation of
the IMC, what do we anticipate accomplishing over the next year or two,
and what will it take to succeed? What features of our organization
do we want to keep the same, and which should we look to change? And
how shall we go about making our desired changes?

Andrea Beesing, Asst. Director, Integration &

Update on Identity Management plans and initiatives. During the fall
semester, staff on Andrea's team worked with a group of campus stakeholders,
including CCD members Rob Bandler and Craig Trowbridge, to develop
a set of recommendations for better management of the NetID life-cycle.
In the context of the Identity Management update, Andrea will explain
how they're incorporating those recommendations in their work over
the next one to two years.
